I see childhood wonder and an educational experience. There is a nice mix of emotions on the children's faces, one is excited the other looks fearful. I like the angle, looking into their faces while still retaining the face of the snake handler, however the childrens' faces are out of focus. I feel like the image is about them, not the snake- so they should have more focus on them (sharpness).
It looks like the children are learning about Arizona wildlife, in particular this snake, for fun and for knowledge from the man. It's a good composition and the expressions of all three people can be read. I agree that a longer depth of field would have been nice for the children's sake, but the figures behind the kids are at a good depth to not be distracting.
It seems to me a capture of two kids (maybe friends) learning about snakes. The adult might have been holding the snake out for them to touch and one of the boys seems pretty nervous about the idea whereas the other is excited. It looks like almost a booth set up and the kids could go on to learn about something else. The legs of people in the background and the edge of the table/tablecloth make me think that.
I see two children experiencing something together. The old lady seems to be telling them something about the snake she's holding, probably educating them as to what type of snake it is. This leads me to believe that this is an exhibit somewhere such as a zoo or a reptile show, somewhere kid friendly. One of the boys seems apprehensive or scared of the snake while the other seems excited and happy at the situation.
This photo is about experiences of being a child. It is always amazing to see how easily a child can become so over joyed by such simple things and experiences. The important interaction in this photo is that between the child with the blank hat and the snake.
This photo shows a child who is seeing something for the first time. Maybe he has seen pictures with snakes in them before but never has he seen one right before him. His face captures the wonderment a child experiences when seeing something new.
This picture truly captures a moment and a thousand words in a single image. It is very much about wonder and curiosity and discovery, on i believe all the subject's parts. The two boys both have different points of interests as well as attitudes towards them. The blonde boy looks excited and thrilled about the encounter with the snake, while the other boy further back seems to be looking at the old man, wondering at who he is and why is he holding a snake, with much trepidation. I love how the photo is framed, it draws the viewer all around the photo in a very pleasant way, and i love the texture of the scaley snake against the old man's delicate wrinkled skin. I find this an overall very successful photograph.
I feel this photo accomplishes the assignment very well. Theres nothing in it that doesn't help tell the story. These kids are fascinated by the snake, I think it's as simple as that. Their faces betray wonder, excitement, and perhaps a little fear and the picture is about those feelings.
This image encompasses childhood and the simple pleasures endured by child quite well. As a child, I remember being memorized by non-everyday objects/animals/people. Going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or a petting zoo was just so exiting and I think this photograph very nicely portrays that elementary excitement that is almost unachievable now in adulthood.
